Good to see people taking action against knotweed. Doing it through groups as well helps to stop people causing it to spread by tackling it the wrong way.
@J_Scott - you have no clue what you are talking about. You know the 'Insurance' that bikers pay to race in the Porca, Worca, and Sorca events? thats who the plaintiff is trying to get money from. I know him personally and it doesn't matter whether you would hire him at all. He can no longer perform any job requiring labor. Hard pill for a carpenter to swallow don't you think? Put yourself in his shoes. The teeter totter was destroyed right after the incident, gee i wonder why? I hope you never have to endure a life threatening injury that forces you to completely change your career of 10 years and schooling to get the ticket in order to feed your family. Sorry to hear of your fathers cracked ribs though, must have been tough for him to sleep for a few weeks. Get your facts straight before making such ridiculous remarks.
I think something like a small casino/pub would do well in the creekside area, would be something unique to creekside and would definitely be a good draw for people to spend more time and money in the creekside area.
Pemberton Valley Lodge has an Electric Charging Station installed and ready to go. They are the first in the north end of the corridor to have one installed. The charging station is located directly outside the lodge's front entrance so that not only guests can use them, but the general public as well. It's a shame this wasn't mentioned in this article. I also saw on PVL's facebook that the first electric car to use the charging station will get a free night's stay!

Should have posted my link to the Municipal Pension Plan's 2011 financial statements.
Hi Pique,
I am writing regarding Lennox's letter. It is nice to see someone interested in the muni's finances, however his letter is full of significant errors. First off, Ernest and Young is not the RMOW's auditor, BDO Canada LLP is, see their financial statements at :
http://www.whistler.ca/municipal-gov/finan…
Secondly, employee sick days are recorded on the balance sheet, these are valued through an actuary and at December 31, 2011 there was a liability recorded totaling $1,393,100. So he is a little misinformed there.
Lastly, municipal pensions are paid through the Municipal Pension Plan, the RMOW pays in to this however this is a provincial entity for which all municipal employees eligible for a pension pay in to. His point here is valid as at December 31, 2011 this was under funded by just over $2.1 million dollars. His concern here is valid, as the RMOW would be on the hook in some manner to top this up (or taxpayers) if the plan is unable to support current benefits promised. They also assume an investment return of 6.50%, which maybe high given the current economic situation, but high estimates in investments returns are rampant in all these kinds of valuations. However this is done as a higher return means a lower liability.
In the future please fact check a letter before publishing it, as it looks like you did regarding Dick's letter above.
While it is not mentioned specifically in the article, one can only hope that they will track real estate sales and Property Transfer Tax, HST/GST that is generated from this sector has an impact on Whistler so it would be great to see that data collected and shared....
It is news Dusty's reached capacity this early in the season! Good for them, it gets a little sleepy here at the Creek. Only a bunch of losers would try to assault the police in Canada. Young punks don't know how good they have it here - our police are so docile, I'm amazed they resisted the resisted arrest! In a number of countries I've visited, the fellow who tried to pull the cop's gun would have found that yes, the gun would have been pulled and he would be on the receiving end of a slug. All for a drink at Dusty's? You must be kidding - it's really not that good! I feel the Whistler RCMP are just a bit too pacific. Last year they showed up to a "drunk chick outside" call with three or four cruisers, so I know they have the resources (her biggest threat to public order was breaking her stilettos). Anyway, they should have showed up with the same number of officers at Dusty's and dragged a few more losers off to the detachment. I've found a night in the can subdues one's enthusiasm for stupidity.

My name is Kevin Mitchell and as a part time resident in Whistler Creekside for the past 26 years I think that every one of these troublemakers should be incarcerated like we do at home!
Throw the book at them! I'm a property owner!!! How can anybody stand for these wannabe snowboarder freaks/dishwasher/grafitti artists that live side by us in an upstanding part time community like ours! shame on them! Any one having an income less than 6 figures should not live here. Who do they think they really are, especially in the place that I live!
This has nothing to do with the original CSB crew f...ing geeks jump on your own train . its not 1990
what else would you expect with rent being what it is (and shouldn't be, given housing price adjustments) and disc golf and skateboarding the only youth-oriented thing you can do for free in Whistler located over 5 km away?
How do you know they will become a significant safety risk?
Wonderful description of one of the most beautiful places in the world. Your writing brings me back to that incredible adventure. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest!
KSL did not acquire "a 24% interest" They acquired a 24% of 75%. In other words, they acquired an 18 % interest.
If my math is correct this means that the Whistler & Blackcomb Limited Partnerships (ie, the resort) are (is) now 25 % owned by Nippon Cable, 18% by KSL, and 57% by other shareholders of Whistler Blackcomb Holdings.
A few questions spring to mind - who are the next largest shareholders? Does Nippon Cable own any of the publicly traded shares, in addition to their share of the partnerships? if so, how much?
Looks like Nancy is the lawyer for the plaintiff per the Statement of Claim. Not Race and Company. But Nancy. Perhaps now Nancy can help improve the PVTA's trail maintenance standards just like she helped WORCA when she represented someone who sued them. Just like she helped all SAR in BC when she represented Gilles Blackburn.
Bravo Mdme Mayor for representing litigants who are hostile in interest to recreation groups so dear to the heart of everything we hold valuable in the Sea to Sky.
Regardless of whether there's conflicting information, I know I'll NEVER hire Christopher Sanchez to do any work on any project I'm involved in. This guy could really hurt mountain biking in Whistler/Pemby/Squam with this lawsuit.
My father in law cracked a rib this year on a broken feature, missed some work, he didn't sue. Guess he's not a dick like this guy
Why would an exclusively gay festival get any municipal money?
Re: “Troll or die”
Please do not post something related to gaming that you publishers are not familiar with, even as a filler. Also that game is called League of Legends and no that guy isn't being a dick, hes just one of the 70% of people who do bad at the game and rage and blame their team. Get a better story online that you are familiar with and stay away from stuff you dont know such as internet gaming.
