Re: “Murder mystery set in Whistler

I have always liked Spano's books, they are a great mystery read. RIght now I have been pleasantly surprised by Jonelle Patrick's Mysteries. Her newest is Fallen Angel, and I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but ended up loving it. Great books to read are always a necessity! For info on Patrick's books, her site is her name, jonellepatrick.com. Good info there. Used to snowboard in my younger years and did so at Whistler a few times, so I am looking forward to reading this one!

Re: “Lillooet gets a Hiking Guide

"Highway 12 — if you're brave enough — along the east side of the Fraser"

Highway 12 only requires bravery on the Big Slide just south of 12 Mile, it's otherwise a modern highway and was like that long before the Lillooet-Cache Creek highway (also formerly Highway 12 until the 99 designation was extended to Carquile/Lower Hat Creek.

I'm thinking that what must have been meant here is the West Side Road, which includes the Texas Creek Road and runs south to the Lytton Ferry, and south of there is truly nightmarish en route to North Bend, where it's a crazy powerline road in spots. To the Lytton Ferry it's fine, albeit one-lane mostly and slow-going.

Re: “Ruckus Deluxe fiddler earns Grammy nod

Ian...congrats on your nomination, accomplishment indeed. Love the track! You always had your own style, like Santana I could tell it was you on strings.

This is one of the best things to hit whistler besides crankworx and the ski and snowboard festival.

Re: “Painting outside the box

Art on wine boxes is great. I've seen many different pieces, but i've never seen a cartoon on one! Traditional wine box art seems to involve either wine themed elements or fruit. I like how this is unique. If your ever looking for wine crates or wine boxes, feel free to visit www.winepine.com

Re: “The Hairfarmers find new inspiration...at Burning Man

Well the hipsters have been going to Burning Man for a long time, not as long as hair has existed but almost. Nevertheless if you want to understand the relationship b/w hairy and eery do check out that doco Dust & Illusions (http://dustandillusions.com), it'll give you a good idea why Larry Harvey still has his hair.

Re: “Writers Festival gets creative for fundraiser

Great creative idea... I wonder, however, why there was no RMI money available for this festival that has survived without muni help for so long, and upstart festivals get tons of cash? Who is making these decisions?

Re: “On drugs and gangsters

Prohibition is an absolute scourge—The End!  The use of drugs is NOT the real problem, the system that grants exclusive distribution rights to violent cartels and terrorists IS.

If you support prohibition then you support bank-rolling criminals and terrorists. There's simply no other logical way of looking at it.

Re: “Bass Coast: more than a rave

No offence dear S, but everything you described is precisely that of a rave: an inclusive atmosphere; creative artists doing their thang'; costumes & circus & fire; workshops on all manner of weird art and holistic living; and, of course, electronic music, all weekend long. This sounds like the legacy of rave culture to me — having lived through it. Instead of denying it, why not embrace it? Or is "rave" such a dirty word now that we need to eradicate its cultural history in some attempt to obfuscate the lamestream?

Re: “Wil's world of broken guitars

This guy was great, he was fantastic in fact! One of the best performances I have seen and will definitely see him again if I am given the opportunity. Its a shame that his turn out was not half of what appeared for the following night Saturday performance. Don't get me wrong she was good, but this guy connected more with the listener and his talent is obvious. I agree with what it says above, after listening to his music on his website ibreakstrings.com it's still good, but it's just more brilliant live and whistler missed out on this phenomenal performance.

That is awesome! I love arts and crafts. We look for ideas on sites like http://www.homeseasons.com/ and just roll with it. Makes for great gifts and good costumes, too!
