Beginning this week, Whistlerites will once again be able to pose questions directly to the Resort Municipality of Whistler's  (RMOW) mayor and council during council meetings.

The next regular meeting of council, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m., and all public council meetings moving forward will be held on Zoom Webinar. The platform will allow members of the public to virtually join the meeting and ask questions in real-time during the public question and answer period.

“We are excited to again be able to welcome questions from the public and I encourage the community to join our meetings and we are happy to answer all questions,” said Mayor Jack Crompton in a release.

“Virtual Council meetings offer the opportunity to stay up to date on what is happening at the RMOW from the comfort of just about anywhere. We are your Council and everyone is welcome and encouraged to engage as much as they can.”

Whistler council meetings have been held virtually since April 7, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The public question and answer period is typically held near the beginning of the agenda, the RMOW explained in the release. As such, anyone with questions is asked to join the meeting no later than 5:30 p.m.

Members of the public asking questions will not appear on camera. Alternatively, the public can also continue to email their questions for council to address corporate@whistler.ca by 4 p.m. on the day of the meeting. (A full schedule of council meeting dates as well as agendas can be found on the RMOW's website.)
