Union meeting on shaky ground A Town Hall meeting to debate the current union push underway in Whistler is still on, but union organizers from the United Steelworkers of America will not commit to the meeting until they see a final list of panelists. Organized by West Vancouver-Garibaldi MLA David Mitchell, the meeting is set for Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Fairways Hotel. Mountain FM will be broadcasting the meeting live and a panel including local politicians, union organizers, union detractors and labour relations experts will debate the pros and cons of unionizing resorts and answer questions from the public. McSkimming moving Rob McSkimming, marketing manager at Blackcomb, is moving into a new position with Dual Mountain Programs. McSkimming has been with Blackcomb since he came from Dual Mountain Programs, home of the popular Ski Esprit. McSkimming will step into the newly-created position of general manager of Dual Mountain Programs. McSkimming says his job will be to help the Dual Mountain program business grow in the competitive ski world. He says Whistler and Blackcomb have a great working relationship and his task will be to promote that relationship. "We have a tremendous opportunity for the two mountains to work together to promote ourselves against the Vail's, Aspen's and Zermatt's of the world," he says. Hairy search over The second annual charity cut-a-thon at Razzmatazz raised $1,000 for Whistler Search and Rescue. Lori, Darla, Jodi, Sam and Moneca did a total of 45 half-price haircuts and handed out loads of door prizes and drank lots of coffee.
