Trilogy expands Village North holdings Trilogy Development Corporation continued to expand its holdings in Village North with the acquisition of three parcels totalling 4.25 acres early this week. Trilogy President John Evans says developable land in Whistler is going fast and Trilogy had to work quickly to secure the parcels. Trilogy, which developed Whistler's Marketplace in 1993 and later sold it to an Ontario Pension Fund, has been one the busiest developers in Village North with construction underway on their Market Pavilion. Construction will begin in 1996 on the Alpenglow Lodge, a $10 million 73-suite condominium development directly across from Market Pavilion on Main Street. The other two Trilogy sites, directly north of Marketplace on the north side of Lorimer Road, will start to be developed in 1996 and will be completed in two phases as Whistler Glen, 126 townhouse units with a value of $20 million. "The current policy (of municipal council) not to rezone land based on the bed unit cap currently in place is definitely a factor in why Whistler Village North has been developed so quickly," Evans says. "The availability of developable land is diminishing. As Whistler Village is completed there won't be a lot of development happening." The Vancouver-based Trilogy Group of Companies is affiliated with the Canderel Group of Montreal and has been one of the busiest developers in Whistler of late. In April, the company purchased the Timberline Lodge from the B.C. Labourers Pension Fund and is in the process of renovating the property to sell as condominiums.
