It wasn’t a Hoosiers ending, but the Whistler senior boys basketball team returned from the provincial ‘A’ division championships in Castlegar with their heads high, moving up two places in the rankings to 13th overall out of 16 teams.

This is the first time the team has made the provincials, and Whistler Secondary was one the smallest school in the tournament.

In the first game, Whistler lost to Similkameen Secondary of Keremeos, one of the top teams in the tournament, 96 to 50.

The guys got it together in their second game to beat Salmo Secondary 66 to 36. Forward Tyson Duck racked up 37 points during the game, posting the second highest single-game tally in the tournament.

The Storm came close in their third game, losing to Westside Academy of Prince George 62 to 51.

Their final game was another close one, with Whistler losing 77 to 71 to the West Point Grey Academy of Vancouver.
