Crowe goes undefeated in B.C. Cup series

Although a few notable names were missing, and a few of our more reliable local riders made the DNF list, a number of Whistler riders finished the B.C. Cup season on top at the finals in Rossland last weekend.

Although a few notable names were missing, and a few of our more reliable local riders made the DNF list, a number of Whistler riders finished the B.C. Cup season on top at the finals in Rossland last weekend.

In the Under 15 category, undefeated all season, was Whistler’s James Crowe, 14, who rides for the Glacier Shop. Not only did he win every race he entered to become the provincial champion, he usually won by a wide margin. In Rossland, he finished 7 minutes and 22 seconds ahead of the next competitor.

Crowe, who also became the national Under 15 champion this year after a strong run in Kamloops, will be moving up to the Under 17 category next year.

James’ father Eric also made the podium, finishing second in the Master Expert Men’s 40 and Over race.

Some of the Whistler competitors chose to skip the B.C. Cup finals to train for the upcoming World Mountain Bike Championships in Vail, Colorado this September. Others were training for the World Masters Championships in Bromont, Quebec, this weekend.

Seven Whistler racers didn’t finish, including Brendon Edgar, Jason Klimock, Jerry McArthur, Brook Baker, Chad Miles, Angela Teng and Kyle Treleaven.
