Whistler Cable wants your vote Whistler Cable Television is asking for your vote. The local cable service provider is bringing seven new channels to the Whistler airwaves, but which seven depends on what subscribers want. The new package of channels will be on the air in October, at an additional cost of $4.99 per month. It will include the Family Channel and The Learning Channel. Subscribers are being asked to vote on the other stations. Five American channels are being considered; two will be chosen. Six Canadian channels are under consideration, and three of those will become part of the package. The American stations are all regional stations, from cities such as New York, Boston and Los Angeles. The Canadian channels to choose from include the Discovery Channel, Showcase, Bravo, WTN and the Lifestyle Network. Showcase features television shows from the 1970s and ’80s. WTN is the Women's Television Network. CBC Newsworld will not be included. Cable subscribers will be getting a pamphlet in the mail which they can use to register their votes.
