The first World Ski and Snowboard Festival is becoming an affair for the whole family.

The first World Ski and Snowboard Festival is becoming an affair for the whole family. The festival, April 5-14 in Whistler, includes events such as the World Technical Ski Championships, four snowboard competitions and the Whistler Cup international juvenile races, but FamilyFest will run throughout the festival. FamilyFest will highlight the programs and activities Whistler has to offer, as well as present a number of new events for local and visitor families. At least three family or children’s activities are planned for each day of the festival. Among the activities will be a family entertainer in concert at the Delta Whistler Resort, FamilyFest on Ice at the Meadow Park Arena, and street performance acts throughout the village. Other events include the KidRock Climbing Wall in Function Junction, a Family Treasures heritage workshop at the museum, a special Young Readers Story Time at the library, Kids Night Out at Whistler Mountain’s Ski Scamps and Blackcomb’s Kids Kamp, a special Kids’ Mural Wall by the Mainstage in the village, and family fun at the Lazer Zone. Youth-oriented activities will include the Westbeach Skate Jam, a pool tournament at Whistler Wonderland and the infamous Grunge Plunge at the Meadow Park pool. Details on an all-ages fund-raising party organized by the Young Adult Partnership Program (YAPP) will be announced soon. The World Ski and Snowboard Festival will include more than 1,500 amateur and professional athletes in competitions on both mountains, entertainment, ski industry functions and special events.
