Frog Hollow hops to local beat Local artists and crafters have a new venue for their wares with the opening of Frog Hollow Craft Store. Squatting between the A&W restaurant and Misty Mountain Pizza, Frog Hollow sells its goods on consignment, allowing artisans a chance to show off their talents and potential purchasers a chance to buy them at a reasonable price. "We're hoping to have a lot of fun and get to know the crafters," says Lucie Spencer-Nairn, co-owner with Susan Vanin. "Frog Hollow" comes from the owners' love affair with things froggy. "We're both French-Canadians and are great collectors of frog items," Spencer-Nairn says. This is their first retail venture. Vanin had previous experience selling arts and crafts through an annual sale she has from her Vancouver home. By offering the crafts on consignment, artists get a chance to show off a variety of products. "Being on consignment, maybe they'll expand a little more and want to show things that are more artistic," Spencer-Nairn says. Open since mid-December, the store offers clothing, wooden folk art animals, birdhouses and dolls: "Anything that's really creative." Represented crafters are from the Lower Mainland and are just starting to come from Whistler. "I know there's lots of talented people here," Spencer-Nairn says, encouraging local artists to visit Frog Hollow with their crafts.
