crush stogies

Cigars the way Hemingway liked 'em Cigars can be like fine wines in the way they age, which is why the Crush! opening event of the Cornucopia food and wine celebration has a box of 1936 Manuel Garcia pre-Castro-era cigars up for auction.

Cigars the way Hemingway liked 'em Cigars can be like fine wines in the way they age, which is why the Crush! opening event of the Cornucopia food and wine celebration has a box of 1936 Manuel Garcia pre-Castro-era cigars up for auction. Minimum bid is $5,500 for the odour-licious stogies and they are just one of several fascinating items on the block for the Friday, Nov. 7, evening at the Chateau Whistler. Another eye-catching prize is a weekend getaway at scenic Greata Ranch winery in the fruitful Okanagan. The main reason to go to Crush! (as in what you do to grapes to make wine) is to taste the 150 wines from 50 premier West Coast wineries, combined with a culinary Grand Prix that challenges master, executive and apprentice chefs to create an exquisite dish fit for a specific wine. Tickets are $50 and are available at the Whistler Activity Centre. Proceeds will benefit the Western Canadian Pediatric AIDS Society.
