The Whistler Freeride Team, which features some of the most hardcore skiers and snowboarders in the world, is still getting in touch with its feminine side. This year the team recruited several new female members, including World Cup snowboarders Natasza Zurek and Maelle Ricker, and World Cup skier Britt Janyk.

Now they are offering their first ever ladies day on March 2, giving girls of all ages a chance to ride and learn from the best.

"Not only are these guys and gals world-class athletes, but they’re an incredibly fun group of people to hang with," says Whistler Freeride Team founder Michel Beaudry.

"This day is for the ladies so if you’re an advanced rider and a mountain enthusiast, this is a day you don’t want to miss."

You can join big mountain skiing legend Eric Pehota, who was named as one of North America’s 25 best skiers by Skiing Magazine. Pehota made the cover on this one.

You can ski the bumps and steeps with mogul champion John Smart. You can telemark with local champion Scott McLorie. You can ride with pro snowboarders Nelsen Jensen and Sherry Newstead.

If you’re an advanced skier or rider and want to participate, register online at www.whistler-blackcomb.com/calendar/events/freerideday.asp.

The day will start at the Garibaldi Lift Company at 8:30 a.m. and finish with an apres party, also at the GLC. Participants will be eligible for a wide selection of prizes, including a day on the slopes with the Freeride Team athlete of your choice for three of your closest friends.
