RETURN OF THE SALMON FESTIVAL, SQUAMISH>>

This year’s Squamish festival runs from Sat. Oct. 12 to Sun. Nov. 3. The goal is to hoist 150 hand painted windsocks from Squamish Station down to the estuary. All community members can paint a windsock to welcome the salmon back to Squamish. Call Nikki at 604-898-4860 for more info on windsock painting workshops.

Volunteers needed for the Federation of B.C. Naturalists’ Fall General Meeting Sept. 20-22. There will be a wide range of speakers and field trips. Confirmed speakers include: Tom Hurd (Banff Wildlife Specialist); Jack Souther (volcanoes); Kathy Martin (alpine bird migration); Morgan Wells (traditional plant use); Karl Ricker (glaciology); and Michael Allen (black bear and cougar researcher). WSFG is a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to restore the health of Whistler’s watersheds to their utmost potential for people and fish through community partnerships, advocacy, education and projects.
