Boneyard Wars winners apply for TLC’s Junkyard Wars

On the metal legs of success at the Whistler-Blackcomb Boneyard Wars Championships held this past season, the winning Team Fubliant will be featured in a new video submitted to TLC network’s Junkyard Wars program.

Environmental co-ordinator at the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation, Allana Hamm, says the video is being made with assistance from Jim Budge. It will be submitted to for the program’s 2003 season.

"Most people who audition for the show build these machines in their backyards, and then film them and send them in, but we had a real audience for the event," says Hamm.

In the competition, participating teams from Whistler-Blackcomb built mechanical contraptions made from spare parts at the mountains.

The video features all three Boneyard Wars competitions held this summer, says Hamm. The focus of the video is on the winning team, Team Fubliant. The team included Brad Myers, Ross Bryant, and Mike Peel from building maintenance, and Stu Archer and Ross McLean in electrical maintenance.

The award for runner-up went to the Salvage Slaves, including Kevin Phelps and Natai Perdue in the snowmaking department, Nels Powell in Electrical, and both Bob Morton and Bob Pasch from the snowmaking department.
