Locals strong in Royal Victoria

Dozen of Whistler and Pemberton runners took part in the 23 rd annual Royal Victoria Marathon Festival, taking part in the half and full marathon races.

Dozen of Whistler and Pemberton runners took part in the 23 rd annual Royal Victoria Marathon Festival, taking part in the half and full marathon races.

Recognized as one of the top ten marathon events in the world by Runner’s World magazine, the marathon alone attracted almost 2,600 runners.

In the marathon, Whistler’s Ian Goard broke the three hour mark with a time of two hours, 50 minutes and 58 seconds. He was 32 nd overall, ninth out of 191 in the men’s 30 to 34 race, and averaged 6:32 minute miles (4:03 minute kilometres).

Also cracking the three hour mark was Daniel Havens, who was 70 th overall, and seventh in the men’s 45 to 49 race with his time of 2:59:18.

Karen Farr was 475 th overall in 3:33:19, finishing 17 th out of 232 women in the 35 to 39 category.

Leigh Edwards finished in 3:40:15, 648 th overall and 35 th out of 276 in the women’s 40 to 44 race.

Pamela Cook was 859 th overall, and 63 rd in the women’s 40 to 44 race with her time of 3:49:04.

Melissa Baker was 1257th and 26 th out of 67 in the women’s 20 to 24 race in 4:03:59.

Shirley Iida was 1276 th and 75 th out of 187 in the women’s 30 to 34 race, finishing in 4:04:42.

Roxanne Mellahn was hot on her heels, finishing 1283 rd and 97 th in the 35 to 39 race with a time of 4:04:57.

At 4:16:23 and in 1547 th overall was Karen Wylie with her time of 4:16:23. She was 91 out of 187 in the 30 to 34 age group.

Pierre Forand was 1559 th and 112 th out of 170 in the men’s 50 to 54 race with a time of 4:16:58.

Glen Irvine was 1706 th overall and 236 th in the men’s 40 to 44 group with a time of 4:22:52.

Shelley Toutain finished in 6:37:30.

From Pemberton, Lisa Helmer was 318 th overall and eighth out of 136 runners in the women’s 25 to 29 group.

Graeme White was 1690 th with a time of 4:22:06 in the men’s 30 to 34 group.

In the half marathon, Duncan Munro was 112 th out of almost 3,000 runners with his time of 1:30:28. He was also 11 th out of 107 runners in the men’s 25 to 29 category.

Brian Fishbook finished in 1:34:10 to wind up 187th overall and 28th out of 170 in the men’s 30 to 34 group.

Eric St. John was 329 th in 1:38:46, and 51 st out of 194 in the men’s 40 to 44 category.

Jacalyne Sherlock was 406 th and ninth out of 351 in the women’s 35 to 59 group with a time of 1:40:40.

Barry Clemiss finished 439 th overall and 67 th out of 194 in the men’s 40 to 44 group in 1:41:39.

Brenda Davison was 514 th and 23 rd out of 347 entries in the women’s 40 to 44 race with her time of 1:43:27.

Marie-Anne Prevost was done in 1:44:16 to finish 24 th out of 295 in the women’s 30 to 34 race. She was also 547 th overall.

Che Koroll was 636rd, and 55 th out of 107 in the men’s 25 to 29 race with a time of 1:46:23.

Marianne Corak finished into 1:46:45, and was 652 nd overall and 37 th out of 347 in the women’s 40 to 44 category.

With a time of 1:47:35, Jennifer Gottschalk was 689 th and 32 nd in the women’s 30 to 34 group.

Micah Koroll finished in 1:47:37 in 693 rd , and 57 th in the men’s 25 to 29 race.

Christine Cogger came in a 1:51:46, 928 th overall and 56th out of 235 in the women’s 25 to 29 category.

Carlee Howell finished less than a second later to finish 929 th overall and 56 th in the women’s 20 to 24 category.

John Champoux was 1,042 nd and 27 th out of 64 in the 55 to 59 race with a time of 1:53:44.

Rebecca Wood Barrett was 1194 th in 1:56:04, and 84 th out of 295 in the 30 to 34 race.

Stephanie Worts was 95 th in the same category, and 1292 nd overall in 1:57:15.

Ken Sinyard was 1,321 st and 107 th in the 45 to 49 group in 1:57:48.

Tracy Hutton was 1,346 th and 101 st in the 30 to 34 race with a time of 1:58:09.

Jennifer Stewart was 1614 th and 119 th in the women’s 25 to 29 race with a time of 2:02:28.

Vincent Fecteau ran it in 2:02:45 to finish 1,637 th and 146 th in the men’s 30 to 34 age group.

Sheila MacDonald was 1,763 rd overall, 175 th in the women’s 35 to 39 group, in 2:04:38.

Janet Hart finished in 2:14:37, and was 181 st in the 45 to 49 group and 2,277 th overall.

Michael Dean was 2,281 st , and 189 th in the men’s 35 to 39 group in 2:14:37.

Sonja Prevost was 2,311 th and 22th in the 30 to 34 group in 2:15:29.

Bob Deeks was 2,631 st , 187 th in the 40 to 44 race, with a time of 2:26:01.

Brigitte Lundrigan was 2,664 th , and 270 th in the 30 to 34 race in 2:28:04.

From Pemberton, Connie Sobchak was 894 th and 70 th in the women’s 40 to 44 race in 1:51:09. Jessica Semmens was 1,070 th in 1:54:11, and 69 th in the 25 to 29 group.
