XC Early bird pass sale extended

So far the Nordic skiing season is a non-starter this year, but late doesn’t mean never. One day there will be snow on the valley bottom, and when that day comes, you might want to spend it on your cross-country skis.

So far the Nordic skiing season is a non-starter this year, but late doesn’t mean never. One day there will be snow on the valley bottom, and when that day comes, you might want to spend it on your cross-country skis.

For that reason the municipality has extended the sale of their early bird passes for this season until Dec. 15.

Prices are the same as last season; an adult early bird pass is $136, a regular pass is $170, and a night pass is just $54. A family early bird pass is $272, down from $340, and a family night pass is $109.

For youth, a pass is $82 or $27 for the night pass. Children can get passes for $68, and ski free at night.

In addition, the municipality is offering Ambassador passes for employees of Chamber of Commerce businesses that have completed Spirit Courses. Those passes are $135 anytime, or $54 for a night pass.

When the snow hits, the trails will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and there are four kilometres of lighted trails for night skiing, which starts at 4 p.m. The season will run until sometime in March, depending on conditions.

You can also purchase pass insurance for 10 per cent of the purchase price. This guarantees 10 weeks of skiing or a pro-rated refund will be given. This also comes in handy for injured skiers that have a doctor’s note.

The Lost Lake trail network includes 32 kilometres of track-set and groomed trails for classic and skate skiers. The trail system was recently ranked fifth in B.C. among Nordic ski areas.

You can pick up a pass at Meadow Park Sports Centre, or by calling 604-935-PLAY (7529).
