WHO: Pro Snowboarders and Skiers

WHAT: Charity hockey game

WHERE: Meadow Park Arena

WHEN: Friday, April 18, 8 p.m.

The ongoing battle between two-plankers and knuckle draggers kicks into high gear next Friday at Meadow Park Arena.

Billed as Armageddon on Ice II: Blades of Fury, Canada’s best skiers and snowboarders will trade the comfort of skis and boards for blades and sticks, and battle for bragging rights. All in the name of charity, of course.

The list of pro snowboarders includes Shin Campos, Devun Walsh, Chris Brown, Tyeson Carmody, Etienne Gilbert and Christ Wilson.

The list of pro skiers includes Dan Treadway, Hugo Harrison, Christian Begin, Rob Boyd, Mike Atkinson, Robin Courcelles, Guillaume Tessier, JD Hare and others.

The folks at SBC Skier Magazine and Snowboard Canada Magazine are sponsoring the game. Admission is free, and all the proceeds from donations and draws for a snowboard and a pair of skis will go towards avalanche awareness and mountain safety organizations honouring the lives of Craig Kelly and Dave Sheets.

SBC Skier editor Leslie Anthony and Snowboard Canada editor Matt Houghton will do the play by play for the game, and the evening’s entertainment includes a beer garden and live DJs.

The event is in its second year, and is supported by Helly Hansen and the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival.

The game starts at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 18.
