The Whistler Minor Baseball and Softball association is kicking off the upcoming season with a players clinic geared to girls and boys age 9 and older. The camp instructors include Susan Angel Licty, a shortstop for the Canadian National Team; Sue Desrosier, a veteran coach for the White Rock Renegades; and other coaches from the Westcoast Softball Academy.

The registration deadline for the clinic, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 10, is May 3. You can register by phoning minor baseball co-ordinator Laura Wetaski at 604-932-2007 or e-mailing lwetaski@telus.net. The cost of the clinic is $20.

"It’s just an excellent opportunity to have these big names coaches come out. We did this last year, and it was just amazing for the kids and coaches," Wetaski says.

For Whistler’s minor coaches, there will also be a free coaching clinic on May 10 from 9 a.m. until noon. All coaches are encouraged to attend.

The schedule for Whistler Minor Baseball and Softball has also been completed. It’s a short season that wraps up for summer, with assorted games in Pemberton and Squamish, and home games on May 13, May 20, May 27, June 3, June 5, June 12 and June 16.
