Canadians shut out in freestyle freeskiing debut

After dominating at the X-Games, U.S.

After dominating at the X-Games, U.S. Open, Saab/Salomon Crossmax Series and other professional contests, Canada’s ski cross and ski halfpipe athletes fell short at the first ever FIS World Cup’s held for these events at Saas-Fee, Switzerland.

In the women’s skier cross, Anik Demers of Quebec and Squamish’s Aleisha Cline finished 13 th and 26 th place respectively after failing to qualify for the top-8 in the time trials.

Whistler’s Davey Barr also finished 26 th .

In the men’s halfpipe, Corey Vanular finished fifth overall behind four French skiers. Chris Biollo was 51 st .

No Canadians competed in the women’s halfpipe event.

In addition to moguls and aerials, ski cross, halfpipe and tabletop events have been added to the World Cup freestyle calendar this season.
