A former Whistler ski instructor has won a $20 million jackpot in Ontario's Lotto Super 7.

Colin McDonald, 28, was the sole holder of the winning ticket in the Friday, Jan. 16 draw.

A business student at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ont., McDonald picked up his winnings in Toronto on Monday and told the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation: "I love to snowboard and ski, so I will follow the snow for a little while."

Going back to school seems to have dropped down on McDonald's list of priorities.

"Up to this point the biggest thing I had to think about was my assignment that is due this week... this is very exciting and really changes things," McDonald said.

"I look forward to making others happy, our family is very close," he added.

McDonald, originally from Newfoundland, is the youngest of five children.

Kara Pratt, a fellow business student at Loyalist College, told the Belleville Intelligencer that McDonald worked as a ski instructor, planted trees and helped manage a hotel while he was in Whistler.

"He's laid back, really laid back," Pratt said.
