Over 100 skiers and riders in slopestyle

There was a strong turnout for the second event on the Sprite Park Rider Series calendar, a slopestyle competition in the Blackcomb Terrain Park.

There was a strong turnout for the second event on the Sprite Park Rider Series calendar, a slopestyle competition in the Blackcomb Terrain Park. More than 100 skiers and boarders took part, using the fast, hard-packed snow and the double-black tables and rails to show off their skills.

David Fortin was the biggest winner of the day, winning the draw prize for an Atomic Alibi snowboard as well as placing second in the men’s 17 and Over Snowboard category.

The number of entries has prompted organizers to suggest that participants register in advance for the next Sprite Series event, a snow cross in the Blackcomb Terrain Park on Feb. 22. Because of the logistics of the snow cross, categories will be capped once a designated number of athletes is reached.

To register, visit any Whistler-Blackcomb Ski School Sales or Guest Relations location.

Day of event registration is available at the Rendezvous Lodge until 9:45 a.m. if space is available.
