A pair of skier cross pros from Whistler has been tearing it up recently, finishing on top of pro contests south of the boarder.

Whistler’s Ashleigh McIvor, in only her second year of skier cross, took the win in the first Subaru Rocky Mountain Skiercross Classic at Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado. It was the second event of the Subaru U.S. Skiercross series after the U.S. Skiercross Nationals at Snowbird, Utah in early February.

McIvor won every heat on her way to the finals, and didn’t look back until the very end.

"It was a very technical course with lots of turns and not much air – except for a jump over a Subaru," said McIvor. "It was a really fun event and a great confidence builder for me."

She was followed in the final heat by Colorado’s Suzan Dole, with Canada’s Anik Demers taking third place.

After that it was off to Crested Butte, Colorado for the sixth annual Salomon Crossmax Series Skiercross.

With perfect conditions, four-time X-Games gold medal winner Aleisha Cline successfully defended her title in the women’s division after an overnight flight from Japan.

"This was a great course for me and the way I like to ski," Cline told Freeze Magazine.

Cline was joined on the podium by McIvor, who was leading the final heat after getting the hole shot out of the start.

"But Aleisha came whipping by me towards the bottom of the flats," said McIvor. "So I was second to the best skier cross chick in the world in another Saab Salomon Crossmax!"

Anik Demers was third, giving Canadian women a clean sweep of the podium.
