WB Foundation fundraiser returns to Big Sky

For the first time in four years the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation’s fundraiser will be held at the Big Sky Golf & Country Club in Pemberton and a nine-hole competition has been added to the program.

Last year the TELUS Mountain Valley Golf Classic raised more than $65,000 for the WB Foundation.

Thirty-seven teams can register for the event and at press time there were still places left for the Sept. 10 event.

Team registration costs $1,600 (all-inclusive).

The tournament is played in a Texas Scramble format and features four hole-in-one prizes including a Harley Davidson, a Salmon Fishing Trip for four, a Cadillac SRX and $50,000 in cash.

There has yet to be a hole-in-one at the event.

There will be many on-course activities and prizes and all players receive a gift bag.

In addition to the teams tournament, this year for the first time there will be a separate pre-event nine-hole KP challenge on Big Sky’s challenging Academy Course.

After playing the course, each golfer gets one shot on the ninth hole, with players receiving an extra shot for any birdies they shoot during the round. Closest shot to the pin wins $1,000.

Entry is just $60, but space is limited to 36 players.

The event’s after-party will be held in Dusty’s at Creekside and will feature an outdoor silent auction, martini bar and live music.
