Women’s hockey league draft Tuesday

The Whistler Women’s Hockey League is looking for a few good players, and is holding their annual draft night this Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Representatives from all six teams will be on hand, looking for girls to fill the open spaces on their rosters after the previous season. All positions, including goalies, are welcome to come out, run a few drills and play some pick-up hockey.

There is a $10 drop-in fee to take part in the draft for the ice-team, and all players should come dressed to play with full equipment. Only women 19 and older will be accepted, and not all draft participants will be picked up by teams.

The league gets underway on the following day, Wednesday, Sept. 15 before moving to Thursdays for the rest of the season, which runs until mid-April.

Pre-registration in the draft is recommended. For registration and information, contact Cathy MacLean at cathy_maclean@nscu.com.
