MY Place has classical this week, classic rock next week

If green beer and House of Pain aren’t really your idea of a good time on St. Patrick’s day stop by MY Place tonight for the soothing sounds of the Alcan string quartet.

The acclaimed ensemble will perform a program of contemporary classical music.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for youth, available through the MY Place Box Office at 604-935-8410. The performance is part of the Whistler Arts Council/MY Place 2004/05 Performance Series.

From classical to classic rock in just one week...

Next Thursday the theatre at MY Place hosts The Darker Side of Oz.

Admit it, there was a night back in high school where you tried to synch up Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and the Wizard of Oz in your parents basement with mixed results.

The pro version of the ultimate stoner experiment goes way beyond the basement with digitally mastered pictures and digital 5.1 Surround sound.

The show is being brought to Whistler by brand new event planning company Higher Ground Entertainment. While Dark Side Of Oz is the official debut, Higher Ground’s Christian Kessner says the official launch event celebrating their official arrival is yet to come.

The Dark Side of Oz will play twice on Thursday, March 24 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 available through the MY Place Box Office or through TicketMaster. For more information call 604-935-8410.
