Whistlers triathlon community had a big Victoria Day on Monday, with 13 athletes taking part in the North Shore Spring Triathlon and three landing on the podium for their age categories.
The competition was sprint distance, and included a 740 metre swim, a 20 km bike, and a 5 km run.
Whistlers David Higgins was the top local, winning the mens 35 to 39 category and finishing fourth overall with a time of one hour and 49 seconds.
Paul Suter also had a big day, finishing 18 th among men and second in the mens 45 to 49 race in 1:04:22.
Marie-Anne Prevost finished seventh among women and first out of 32 racers in the competitive 30 to 34 category with her time of 1:08:39.
Bob Deeks just missed a medal with his performance, finishing 44 th among all men and fourth in the 45 to 49 category in 1:08:51.
Chris Hodkinson was 11 th in the mens 30 to 34 race in 1:13:47.
Karen Blaylock was 52 nd among women and fourth in the womens 45 to 49 race in 1:19:26.
Jane Hague finished in 1:29:15, 24 th in the womens 35 to 39 race.
Jade Hume crossed the finish line in 1:30:53, 21 st in the womens 30 to 34 race.
Chandra Eyton was 1:31:22, one spot behind Hume in the 30 to 34 group.
Tracy Silvester was 20 th in the womens 25 to 29 category in 1:32:32.
From Pemberton, Garth Riess finished 16 th in the mens 50 to 54 category in 1:41:02.
In the kids race, which included a 75 metre swim, a 1.5 km bike and a 500 metre run, Victoria Whitney was third among 15-year-olds with a time of 39:14.
Kai Riess was second among 12-year-olds in 42:21.
