Lego competition focuses on sustainable transportation

Lego, a fixture for generations of children, is subject of an important competition on a certain August weekend

Sunday, Aug. 21 children and adults alike are asked to pull out their creativity and compete in the Whistler Museum and Archives Lego Building Competition.

This year’s event is being held at the Spruce Grove Field House from 1 to 3 p.m.

"The theme for this year’s competition is sustainable transportation, something that is important in Whistler and in today’s world," says Jessica Moerman, museum assistant. "The goal for this competition is to build an environmentally friendly form of transportation out of the Lego supplied."

Creativity and innovation are encouraged and competitors need not be realistic with their Lego creations. Participants will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of the many Lego prizes donated by Great Games and Toys.

A brief presentation on what sustainability means and why it’s important will also be featured.

Pre-registration for the event is required and space is limited. Cost per family is $10. To register for the program or for further information, call the Whistler Museum and Archives at 604-932-2019.
