The Sea To Sky Film Festival in Squamish celebrates its decade anniversary this Friday night with an eclectic lineup of short films.

The one-night event will screen 12 films this year, ranging from 6 minutes to 21 minutes in length, with entries coming in from as nearby as Vancouver and as far away as France, Brazil and Israel.

Five of the films will have their world premiere screening at the festival.

The competitive event features awards for Best Comedy, Best Drama and Best Documentary films. This year’s judging panel includes Squamish arts community members Patrician Heinzman, Pete Wellenhofer, Frank Ryan and Kathy Daniels.

The festival was founded by Adriane Polo, a Squamish resident, filmmaker and theatre impresario.

This year’s festival will be hosted by Mountain FM personality Steve Hainsworth, with five of the filmmakers confirmed to be in attendance to introduce and speak about their respective works.

The festival takes place at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish, kicking off at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, available in advance from Highland Video and Mostly Books.
