Test of Metal sells out in under five hours

Popular 67.5 km bike race set for June 17

The 11 th annual Test of Metal mountain bike race shattered past records for popularity, selling out all 800 spots in four hours and 19 minutes after entries went on sale Jan. 2 at noon.

In 2005 the popular 67.5 km race sold out in five days, and in 2004 it sold out by March 9.

If you didn’t make the cut, there’s still the waiting list, and a lot can happen between now and the race on June 17.

Last year’s race was a muddy affair, to say the least, but it attracted an impressive field with Canadian mountain bike legend Alison Sydor competing for the first time ever and the Vancouver Canucks’ Trevor Linden putting in a solid performance of his own.

It was also the first year where a local rider, 18-year-old Neal Kindree, would finish on the podium in the elite division. Kindree was second to the national team’s Ricky Federau.
