Women of Whistler host annual conference

Focus is on learning for success

Get ready to be dazzled.

This year’s Dazzle and Deliver for Business Success conference boasts a jam-packed agenda and a powerhouse of speakers.

The annual Women of Whistler event will offer tactics on sales and marketing, getting your business noticed, setting goals and objectives, and evolving your organization.

And the keynote address at the May 8 conference is none other than Whistler favourite and Olympian Nancy Greene Raine.

“The key note speaker is obviously a huge draw and in this particular case having Nancy Greene Raine is amazing,” said Cathy Goddard, who is on WOW’s planning committee.

“Her Whistler background, her skiing history, it is always inspirational and good information for people, especially in light of having the Olympics coming. It has come full circle.”

Greene Raine won gold and silver medals at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics and overall World Cup titles in 1967 and 1968.

Following Greene Raine’s presentation RBC will offer up a guest panel of experts on how to reach the business podium by 2010.

In the afternoon participants can choose two workshops from a variety of topics.

“ We really strive to have a lot of different topics and to not use the same speakers,” said Goddard.

“They are interactive so people are very involved in the learning and this year we have speakers on goal setting, events marketing, public relations, sales and so on, so they are very tangible tools for people to use.”

The event promises to be a sell-out so interested participants are encouraged to register soon through www.womenofwhistler.com .   Tickets cost $125, with $5 of every ticket purchased going to the WOW Scholarship fund.

“ Every year there is a scholarship for a Whistler Secondary School female student,” said Goddard. “Our goal is always to do at least a $500 scholarship and we are hoping for more this year.”

There is also bevy of prizes to be won at the event with a grand prize of a trip for two on the Rocky Mountaineer given out at the closing cocktail party.

The day, hosted by the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

WOW provides an opportunity for local businesswomen to network, gain knowledge, and share ideas in a friendly, relaxed environment. Regular evening meetings are held approximately every second month from September through June at various locations in Whistler.
