What: SQUAMISH CHRISTMAS MARKET Santa will be an attendance for an annual Christmas market with hot mulled wine and apple cider, Christmas carollers, gift ideas, seasonal baking and arts and crafts.

When: Saturday December 6, noon – 6 p.m., Sunday December 7, 4 – 6 p.m.

Where: Squamish Arts Council Building

What: THE POLAR EXPRESS Chris van Allsburg’s timeless Christmas tale comes to life at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish. The Polar Express will leave the station at three different times each day and guests get hot chocolate and chocolate treats. $21 for adults, $18 for kids.

What: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY GAME NIGHT Friends of the Library hosts a games night at the Whistler Public Library. If you love books, and better yet, games, come out and participate!

What: WORLDWIDE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN: WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR CANADA? Financial markets around the world are in the red. Most people are at a loss to figure out what’s happening. Find out what it means for Canada with Jonathan Warner, an economist from Quest Unviersity. Admission by donation.

What: A DRAMATIC READING OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL Join CBC Radio personality Paul Grant as well as members of the Whistler community for a reading of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” The Whistler Children’s Chorus will provide musical accompaniment. Tickets $10 at Armchair Books and the Whistler Public Library.

What: WHISTLER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The Whistler Chamber of Commerce hosts its AGM, where they’ll announce the results of Chamber Board elections, the Business Person of the Year Award and an update from VANOC.

What: BC MUSEUM OF MINING PRE-CHRISTMAS SALE The BC Museum of Mining is hoting a pre-Christmas sale. The public is invited to enjoy employee pricing with a full 20 per cent off everythign in teh gift shop. Proceeds to go support the museum, a non-profit organization.

What: COMMUNITY HOLIDAY SING-ALONG Join the Whistler Children’s Chorus in the singing of Christmas carols and other holiday favourites. Admission by donation.

What: 25th ANNUAL CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS The 25th annual interdenominational Christmas Eve service and everyone is welcome to attend. Community members will be there to read the story of Christmas and the public is invited to join with them in singing Christmas carols.
