Last week Whistler’s two Rotary clubs (Rotary Club of Whistler and Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium) donated $1,400 to the Whistler Food Bank, which is managed by the Whistler Community Services Society.

The donation includes funds raised at a joint Rotary Christmas party, which included events like a 50/50 draw and auction, and brings the clubs’ 2008 donations to the Food Bank to roughly $3,000.

Rotary has been active in Whistler since 1977, supporting community and overseas projects. Some recent projects include a cabin for the local scout group in Shadow Lake Provincial Park, benches along the Valley Trail, and signage for the bike trails in Lost Lake Park.

There are two clubs in Whistler to make it easier for members to attend meetings. Both groups are always looking for new members.

The Rotary Club of Whistler meets Tuesday mornings at 7 a.m. at the Wildwood on Northlands Boulevard, while the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium meets on Thursdays at noon in the Pan Pacific.
