Avalanche foundation dinner Feb. 20

It's been a particularly bad winter for avalanches, with 16 lives lost already. Those sorts of statistics suggest that the work of the Canadian Avalanche Foundation in education and research is worthy of more support than ever.

The Canadian Avalanche Foundation's annual Whistler Gala Dinner takes place Friday, Feb. 20 in Whistler Mountain's Roundhouse Lodge.
Foundation President Chris Stethem is hosting the evening, which includes a presentation by Heather Mackenzie titled Northern Avalanches and Polar Adventures.

Silent auction items up for grabs include heli-ski packages, spa treatments, snowmobile trips, dinners and a trip to Hawaii.

Tickets are $175 each, or $1,500 for a table of 10. They can be purchased in Whistler through Sharon Audley, 604-905-2827.
