Parkin top Whistler runner in Vancouver marathon

More than 10,000 runners turned out on Sunday, May 3 to take part in the BMO Vancouver Marathon and half marathon. Going the full distance, 42.2 km, David Parkin was the top Whistler athlete, 184 th out of 3,031 finishers.

Going the full distance, 42.2 km, David Parkin was the top Whistler athlete, 184 th out of 3,031 finishers. He completed the course with a chip time of three hours, 19 minutes and 32 seconds, averaging a kilometre every 4:44 to place 25 th out of 262 men in the 40 to 44 age group.

Patrick Gosselin finished 114 th in the men's 35 to 39 category in 3:44:12.

Emi Sato was 85 th in women's 35 to 39 in 4:05:48.

Liv Holm was 65 th in women's 20 to 24 in 4:53:30, while Jacob Holm was 73 rd in male 20 to 24 in 4:53:31.

In the half marathon, a distance of 21.1 km, Duncan Munro was the top Whistler runner with a chip time of 1:26:49. He placed 81 st out of almost 6,000 finishers, and 12 th in the very competitive men's 30 to 34 age category. He averaged a kilometre every 4:07.

Donald Mackay wasn't that far back, placing 92 nd overall and 15 th in the men's 25 to 29 age group in 1:27:37.

Robin O'Neill was the top Whistler female in 1:32:13, 143 rd overall, 22 nd out of over 3,700 women and ninth in the female 35 to 39 age group.

Hiromasa Sato was 167 th overall and 12 th in the male 45 to 49 group in 1:33:19.

Walter Wallgram finished just outside the top 200, in 204 th place. He also placed 12 th in the male 50 to 54 age group in 1:34:59.

Ondrea Ross placed 295 th overall and eighth out of 611 women in the 30 to 34 age category in 1:37:43.

Cristina McKean was 24 th out of 605 runners in the women's 25 to 29 group in 1:39:04.

Debbie Walsh was 20 th out of 500 runners in women's 40 to 44 in 1:42:57.

Dave Clark was 84 th out of 382 runners in Male 35 to 39 in 1:44:51.

Barry Clemiss was 72 nd out of 240 in male 50 to 54 in 1:55:37.

David Evans was 180 th in male 35 to 39 in 1:58:03.

Sonia Mahoney was 73 rd out of 500 runners in female 40 to 44 in 1:57:55.

Lindsey Ataya was 153 rd in female 25 to 29 in 1:53:36.

Colleen Felgate was 185 th in female 35 to 39 in 1:59:56.

Alastair Wain was 211 th in male 25 to 29 in 2:02:40.

Stephanie Buryk was 12 th in female 20 to 24 in 2:03:28.

Ryan Peterson was 218 th in male 25 to 29 in 2:03:26.

Cindy Iatan was 253 rd in female 35 to 39 in 2:04:13.
