The RCMP have arrested a 40-year-old Surrey male after attending a sexual assault in progress at the Pemberton Valley Lodge on June 11.

The RCMP received the call at 5:50 a.m. and when they arrived at the scene they discovered an adult female in the lobby of the hotel who had been badly beaten and was bleeding from her head. She was taken to the Pemberton Health Clinic for assessment, then later transported to Vancouver General Hospital for treatment. Her injuries include fractures to her left orbital bone and cheek, cuts to the back of her legs and bleeding inside her skull.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Jeffrey Gosse, who now faces charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault and made his first court appearance on Monday.

It is believed that the victim knew Gosse and that the assault was domestic in nature. The RCMP are continuing the investigation.

Adult male falls from balcony

The Whistler RCMP attended a few noisy parties over the weekend, as well as an incident where an adult male fell from a second storey deck at a crowded house party. The 26-year-old was taken to Lions Gate Hospital with serious injuries, including a head injury.

There are no charges anticipated at this time, but the RCMP shut down the party and advised roughly 100 intoxicated partygoers to move on.

It was also a busy week for highway patrols, which handed down five 24-hour driving prohibitions.

Cyclist injured in run-in with vehicle

On June 10 at approximately 4 p.m. emergency services attended a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist.

According to witnesses, the driver was travelling at a low rate of speed down Northlands Boulevard toward Lorimer Road and had just passed a speed bump when the cyclist "came out of nowhere" and was struck by the vehicle.

The cyclist was taking to the Whistler Health Care Centre with a concussion and separated shoulder. No charges were laid.
