Police track Olympic ticket thief

26 victims have been identified by the West Vancouver Police Department

West Vancouver police are looking for a man who allegedly stole $60,000 from people who thought they were giving him down payments on 2010 Olympic Games tickets.

A warrant has been issued for Sean McConnell Stuart, 31, for fraud over $5,000 and fraud under $5,000 and theft and possession of property obtained by crime.

West Vancouver police began their investigation a year ago after they began fielding questions for people who had spent thousands of dollars o Olympic tickets only to find out the seller had fled Vancouver and was not going to deliver on his "Olympic" promise.

His victims were not just local. He also took money from people across Canada, the USA and even Croatia.

Stuart would collect a fifty per cent down payment from the majority of his victims promising to follow through on the tickets upon their delivery from the Vancouver Organizing Committee (VANOC). In most cases Stuart and the ticket buyer signed a contract. But Stuart never followed through on his contracts, never even having a Vanoc account.

He advertised his tickets on Craigslist and kijiji offering events such as gold medal hockey, figure skating and the Opening Ceremonies.

To date twenty-six victims have been identified. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Erin Findlay at 604 925 7317 and quote file # 2010-486
