RCMP investigating serious crash

An Audi hits a pickup truck near Whistler's industrial park

The RCMP are continuing to investigate a crash on Highway 99 and Function Junction that sent two men to the hospital on Monday morning.

According to the RCMP, a pickup truck was leaving Cheakamus Crossing and turning south on the highway when a northbound Audi hit it. There's a chance that the Audi drove through the red light and hit the other vehicle.

The RCMP was in the area and came across the accident before it was called in. The two men were removed from the pickup truck and transported to the Whistler Health Care Centre where their conditions worsened. A 24-year-old male from Pemberton was flown to a hospital in Vancouver by air ambulance, and the second male, a 54-year-old from Masset, was transported to the same hospital by ambulance. Their condition was not known at press time.

The driver of the Audi, a 32-year-old woman from Vancouver, was not injured.

The RCMP is investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.
