There could be big screen TV's in the village to capture some Canucks hockey fever during the Stanley Cup finals.

After seeing the crowds in Vancouver, Acting Mayor Ralph Forsyth, with the support of council, has asked municipal staff to look at the opportunities and the cost of putting up big screen TVs in the village for the final.

"It's the kind of thing we do great," said Forsyth at a special meeting Thursday May 26.

Screens dotted the village during the February 2010 Olympics and were a huge draw for spectators and fans and made the village a vibrant, bustling hub of activity.

Councillor Ted Milner also suggested that staff engage Tourism Whistler and the Whistler Chamber of Commerce as it looks at the opportunity.

The Canucks will find out who their opponents are after tonight's (Friday May 27) Game 7 between the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The first match in the Stanley Cup Finals takes plan on Wednesday June 1.

Game 7, if it goes that far, will be played two weeks later on Wednesday June 15.
