Neal Kindree takes Gearjammer

Squamish rider wins men's elite category in 2:26:02.55

It was a busy weekend for cycling with Crankworx in Whistler, the national downhill championships in Canmore and the GearJammer in Squamish dividing the attention of riders, but the annual GearJammer still managed to draw in close to 250 riders on Saturday, July 23.

Squamish's Neal Kindree picked up the win in the men's elite category with a time of 2:26:02.55 on the 52-kilometre course. He was followed by Ricky Federau in 2:30:48 and Kevin Calhoun just 0.17 seconds back of the silver medal.

Kindree now has wins in three Hell of a Series events, including the Ore Crusher and the NimbyFifty. Just one event remains, the Just Another Bike Race on Aug. 20, before the overall titles are awarded.

The top Whistler rider in the GearJammer was Keith Ray, placing 15th overall and third in Male 40 to 44 in 2:48:22.

Trevor Hopkins was 21st overall and second in Male 35 to 39 in 2:51:21.

Josh Stott was 13th in Male Elite in 2:54:22.

Greg McDonnell was fifth in Male 40 to 44 in 2:54:26.

Tony Routley was first in Male 55 to 59 in 2:56:19, while John Blok placed second in the category in 3:41:24.

Jean-Phillip Boulais was second in Male 20 to 29 in 3:11:37.

Cathryn Zeglinski was first in Female 45 to 49 in 3:11:48, just over two minutes back of Female Elite winner Melanie Bernier.

Mahon Lamont, coming back from injury, was fifth in Male 14 to 19 in 3:12:22.

Benoit Reneault was ninth in Male 30 to 34 in 3:17:03.

Richard Potter was third in Male 45 to 49 in 3:21:34.

Patrick Plante was fifth in Male 20 to 29 in 3:38:10.

Gregory Ellis was 17th in Male 30 to 34 in 3:38:12.

Mark Steffens was 18th in Male 30 to 34 in 3:44:18.

Jonathon Debney was eighth in Male 20 to 29 in 3:46:07.

Andrew Rankin was ninth in Male 20 to 29 in 3:47:22.

Martin White was seventh in Male 50 to 54 in 3:53:30.

Chloe Cross was second in Female 20 to 29 in 3:53:32.

Ben Thomas was 23rd in Male 35 to 39 in 4:00:36.

Kenneth Carruthers was 24th in Male 35 to 39 in 4:07:44.

David Thornhill was first in Male 60 to 69 in 4:08:40.
