It's been a quiet year for the Canadian halfpipe team with bare bones funding and athletes sticking close to home, but the top pipe athletes did make the trip to Stoneham, Quebec this week to take part in the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup events at that resort.

Among them was Whistler's Mercedes Nicoll, one of Canada's most consistent riders in recent years. She placed a solid fourth in the competition, behind Chinese riders Xuetong Cai and Shuang Li, and Haruna Matsumoto of Japan.

Only the top six athletes took part in the superfinal. Squamish's Sarah Conrad just missed the superfinal in seventh place overall, while Ontario's Palmer Taylor placed 10th. Katie Tsuyuki of Whistler was 12th, Calynn Irwin was 14th, Erin Lee 17th, Dallas Rourke 19th and Samm Denena 20th.

On the men's side the top rider was Squamish's Brad Martin in ninth, while Justin Lamoureux was 14th. The top three were Nathan Johnstone of Australia, Taku Hiraoka of Japan and Janne Korpi of Finland.

Other Canadians in the running were Derek Livingston in 19th, Harrison Gray in 26th, Francis Lachance 33rd and Felix Sevigny-Levesque.

The parallel giant slalom also took place this week. On the women's side the top Canadian was Caroline Calve in 15th, with Marianne Leeson in 20th and Ariane Lavigne in 24th.

Ekaterina Tudegesheva of Russia was first, beating Julia Dujmovits of Austria in the finals. Julie Zogg of Switzerland bested Amelie Kober of Germany for the bronze medal.

Matthew Morison was ninth for Canada on the men's side, with Jasey-Jay Anderson back in 24th, Michael Lambert in 33rd, Richard Evanoff in 35th, Matthew Carter in 36th and Steve Barlow in 38th.

It was an Austrian final, with Andreas Prommegger winning gold over Manuel Veith, while Nevin Galmarini of Switzerland bested Benjamin Karl of Austria for the bronze medal.

In Sunday's Slopestyle finals Charlotte Van Gils of The Netherlands placed first and she was followed by Brooke Voigt from Fort McMurray in second and Breanna Stangeland of Calgary in third place.

The results on the men's side were similar with Dutch rider Dimi De Jong topping the final Slopestyle list. Canadians Jonathan Versteeg and Maxence Parrot finished second and third respectively.
