A high-pressure system brought clear skies and perfect race conditions to the second Kokanee Valley Race Series event of the season on Jan. 3, a giant slalom on Gandy Dancer. It was a long course with 36 gates for the first run and 33 for the second, and a vertical drop of 320 metres from start to finish.

The third event was on Jan. 10, and future events are Jan. 24 (GS on Lower Franz's), Feb. 21 (Terrain GS on the Blackcomb snowboardcross course), Feb. 28 (super G), Mar. 14 (GS) and Mar. 21 (Dual GS and Team Relay). Online registration is available for $29, or you can register in advance for events at Guest Relations for $29. Day of race registration is available on-mountain for $35.
