A women walking on the Valley Trail between Blueberry Hill and Whistler Village was mugged by an unknown assailant at roughly 1 a.m. on Jan. 11.

The victim was pushed to the ground by her attacker, who took her snowboard and backpack, which had her snowboard boots attached to it. She was wearing headphones at the time and didn't hear the male sneak up on her.

She also didn't get a good look at the suspect, who ran through the woods towards the highway.

The woman did not report the attack until the following day after calling the RCMP and getting the answering machine. She did not think to call 911 at the time.

She went back to the area the next day and recovered her boots. Taken were a purple women's Salmon Gypsy snowboard and a grey Dakine backpack that contained her laptop, an external hard drive and clothing.

If you have any information, contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The police also remind people to call 911 to get immediate assistance.

RCMP investigating two reports of indecent behaviour

The RCMP is looking into two more complaints regarding indecent behaviour involving males that appeared to be masturbating in public.

The first report was called into police at 3:20 p.m. on Jan. 11, regarding a male on a forest path in the Benchlands. The incident happened about 25 minutes earlier, with the male calling out, "Hey, come here," to a passing female who was walking in that area. His hand was near his groin and appeared to the woman to be masturbating. Police allow that he may have been urinating.

The police attended and took a photo of footprints and other material from the scene.

The suspect in that case is described as a Caucasian in his 30s wearing a dark jacket and dark toque.

The second report came in on Jan. 13 at 5:47 p.m. from a business in the Marketplace area. A female in a store was closing when she noticed a male peering into the window and very clearly masturbating.

The worker got a good look at the suspect's face and a sketch artist has been called in. He was described as being in his late 30s, approximately six-feet with dark hair, a medium build and wearing dark clothing.

The two cases come a week after a female walking along the Valley Trail on Lorimer was hailed by a male who was standing in the shadows and who also appeared to be masturbating.

If you've seen anything similar recently or have any information about these incidents, contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crime Stoppers.

Ten more vehicle break-ins reported

The spree of vehicle break-ins has continued in Whistler with 10 more cases reported in the past week — five in Whistler Village, two in the Benchlands and three at Highway 99 and the Callaghan FSR as snowmobilers are being targeted.

The RCMP is investigating, and reminds members of the public to never leave valuables unattended in their vehicles, or if it's impossible to remove them then to place the valuables in the trunk or out of sight.

RCMP urge caution on anniversary of Mike Grefner disappearance

January 19 will mark the one-year anniversary since local DJ Mike Grefner was reported missing by his friends.

His body was found on Mar. 10 after a long search by friends and family members in the woods, with evidence that he likely overdosed on cocaine on one of the coldest nights of the year.

The RCMP is using the anniversary to remind people to take care, look out for each other and to have a safe way to get home if they're out celebrating or getting intoxicated.

Family members also issued a statement this week to thank everyone who helped in the search.
