MOVIE WITH A MESSAGE The District of Squamish has released a series of videos aimed at telling Squamish’s story as a prime location for business operations.

Squamish has taken a creative step toward getting the attention of the business world.

A five video series was launched Feb. 20 to highlight the community’s benefits as a business location. The videos feature clips of the scenery around Squamish, quotes from Squamish business leaders and details of what the community offers to companies thinking of relocating to the community.

A four and a half minute video titled Squamish – A Place For Business headlines the series with shorter supporting videos that focus on growth, the workforce, the location and the Squamish lifestyle.

In releasing the video series the District of Squamish suggested the contents of the video are worth a million words. Mayor Rob Kirkham said the videos were created to stimulate external business interest and excitement for Squamish.

“These videos celebrate our diverse business community, and highlight the factors of success that make Squamish such an incredible place to do business,” said Kirkham. “The entrepreneurial spirit that is hard at work in this community is an inspiration, and I believe these videos will instill deep pride amongst residents and serve to highlight the diversity of industry that exists in Squamish today.”

Key to the success of the videos is the sharing of the clips. Kirkham said the district’s Economic Development Office and business partners like the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Squamish and the Downtown Business Improvement Association will share the videos far and wide.

“They tell our story to potential investors in a way that is authentic and captivating,” said Kirkham. “They depict a community filled with intelligent, energetic, forward thinking leaders who balance hard work with a lifestyle that’s second-to-none.”

The videos have been posted to the District of Squamish website at www.squamish.ca/businessvideos. The videos are also published to the district’s You Tube channel.
