Visitors to the Whistler Gymnastic Club might notice some new decorations hanging on the wall. Going back to the late 1990s, the club has posted all of their top results at provincial championships. While the results are sporadic over the next decade, the banners get a lot longer around fall of 2010 when the club moved into a full-time facility in the Whistler Athletes Centre.

The new banners were unveiled at the club's annual year-end "Flipp'n Gym Show," where hundreds of parents and siblings came out to watch the club's gymnasts perform one last time. The highlights include an amazing performance by the club's trampoline team flipping off of mats, the club's provincial gymnasts doing their award-winning routines, the youngest gymnasts showing what they've learned, the tumbling performance of provincial athlete Keeley Wentzel and the end-of-show tumble demonstration by competitive athletes.

As well, former competitive gymnasts Rikka Tindle, Frances Moody, Rebecca Flynn, Lenka Prochazka and others came out to see the new banners, and hand out some awards.

The awards were:

Hardest Workers — Tiana Powers, Samantha Schelly, Sydney Howe, Georgia Armstrong, Takaya Maynard, Katelyn Hill and Jett Williams.

Most Improved — Jesse Thuma, Van Crompton, Anik Rankin, Ella Soan, Miyuki Espada, Grace Cunningham and Charlotte Mahoney.

Sportsmanship — Avery Maile, Naveah Power, Samantha Droulis, Dax Francis, Emily Sargent, Ashley Knapton, Adam Brett and Jamie Gormley.

Hodie Award (given to top volunteer) — Sonia Mahoney

Rikka Tindle Award (given to the club's most promising artistic gymnast) — Gabby Flynn

Sheila Mozes Award (given for the "Love of Gymnastics") — Sarah O'Byrne

The club's summer camp programs get underway in early July, and registration is open for next year. For more, visit www.whistlergymnastics.com.
