Trails at Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley will open for Nordic skiing this weekend.

Operators have been making snow and will open about one kilometre of trails Dec.7

There isn't enough snow in the woods for snowshoeing yet, but the toboggan hill is open for family fun. And the "Experience Biathlon" program will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 1 p.m. for $20.

Early season day rates are in effect with an adult ticket for $10, child/youth $5, family $25, and tobogganing and general park access is $10 per car.

Private lessons are available by request, and on Saturday and Sunday, the Snow School is offering a special "Intro and Tune-up" group lesson for skate skiers at 10:00 a.m. and classic skiers at 2:00 p.m. This early season lesson is offered at $10.00. Call Recreation and Sport Services at 604-964-0060 Ext. 2460 to book.

The Day Lodge is also open for season pass holders to pick-up their pass, and all visitors can enjoy a hot meal and beverage at the Brandywine Cafe, or check out the new Totem Trading Post retail store.

The park will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekends, and 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. midweek starting Saturday, Dec. 7. Wednesday night skiing starts Dec. 18.
