Longtime SAR leader Tim Jones dies

Tim Jones, who had participated in more than 1,400 rescues, died last night, Jan.19. as he came down from the North Shore Search and Rescue cabin on Mt. Seymour.

It is believed he suffered a heart attack, but details of the death have yet to be confirmed.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our team leader, Tim Jones this evening January 19, 2014," said a statement from North Shore SAR.

"Tim passed away on the trail on Mt. Seymour after completing team business at our cabin.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family.

"We are very sad that have lost our tenacious leader who has done so much for this team and our community."
