One of the less enjoyable side effects of Whistler's booming popularity these days is the inevitable traffic logjam that bookends our busiest weekends.
The B.C. Family Day weekend is no exception, as the slow crawl of drivers inching their way into the village this morning can attest to. Fortunately, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has put some measures in place to lessen traffic impacts on the holiday Monday, Feb. 8.
In an effort to reduce congestion, traffic control personnel will be positioned throughout the day at the corner of Highway 99 and Lake Placid Road as well as the three intersections south of Creekside. Traffic lights will also be disabled between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to facilitate the flow of southbound traffic.
