It’s officially the first day of spring, which means locals can start taking advantage of the bounty of spring and summer recreation programs on offer from the RMOW.

Online registration for Whistler residents opened at 12:01 a.m. today, providing access to dozens of courses, workshops and special sporting events for a wide range of ages. In-person registration opened at 9 a.m. today at the Meadow Park Sports Centre. Residents can also call 604-935-7529 to sign up.

“We are fortunate to live in Whistler. It’s an active community with world-class facilities, access to nature, and endless recreation opportunities,” said Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden in a release. “I am pleased to say that our latest Community Life Survey shows that our community’s levels of satisfaction with the opportunities for recreational physical activities in Whistler are extremely high at 99 per cent.”

New programs this year include: Woodland Wanderers, a play-based outdoor program for preschoolers; the Whistler Basketball Elite summer camp for high school-aged kids; a Spring Training program to help athletes prepare for spring and summer sports; and Zumba Gold, an introductory dance fitness class.

The municipality is also hosting six unique summer camps for kids of varying ages beginning in early July, including the new out-trip camp called Departures Camp for children aged nine to 13.

Non-resident registration opens online on Sunday, March 27 at 12:01 a.m. In-person registration at Meadow Park, or over the phone, starts at 9 a.m. Online registration is not available for the Kids on the Go program or summer camps.

To ensure online registration goes smoothly, plan ahead by having the following information on-hand: your PIN and barcode (these are provided once you create an account), the course name, course number and a credit card number and expiry date.
