Painter Gail Johnson will be painting daily in the lobby of the Fairmont Chateau Whistler as the new artist in residence at the Mountain Galleries.
The Vancouver Island artist's bright florals and landscapes make her a featured artist at the gallery, where she will be from July 25 to 28. Trained in the U.S., Ontario and Nanaimo, Gail is inspired by the natural beauty of the Canadian West Coast.
Audain hours change
The Audain Art Museum has changed its opening hours. Doing away with evening openings, the museum will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed on Tuesday.

Sculptor Nick wins public art commission
Squamish sculptor Christina Nick has been selected to create three permanent installations to be located in Squamish as part of its Connecting Neighbourhoods public art project.
A series of steel salmon sculptures will be installed downtown on Cleveland Avenue, Eagle Run in Brackendale, and at the entrance of the Garibaldi Village pedestrian overpass.
"These installations will not only enhance the connection between our neighbourhoods, they will spark dialogue and emotion by uniting the built and the natural environment," says District of Squamish Mayor Patricia Heintzman.
Nick has worked as a multi-disciplinary artist in the Sea to Sky corridor for the past 25 years.
"I have been inspired, moulded and touched by all Squamish has to offer and I feel truly privileged to create an art piece that links its neighbourhoods," Nick says.
Installation is due to take place in the fall of 2016.

Wind Festival returns
The four-day Squamish Wind Festival returns from July 21 to 24.
In its third year, the festival showcases art and music, sailing, food and craft beer — all taking place downtown or on the Squamish Oceanfront.
Kung Fu Panda 3 will be show outdoors at the Osiem Pavillion on Cleveland Avenue on Thursday, July 21.
Music includes Jam Zone with DJ Praiz and Emotionz, Ta'kaiya Blaney, Bluesberry Jam, the Squamtones and House Arrest on Friday, July 22.
On Saturday, July 23 music is by DJ Praiz and Emotionz, Emma Wong, Overcomers, Flowshine, The Burn Ins, Tanga, Disco Funeral, Magik Spells and a production of Broadway or Bust by the Squamish Academy of Music.
There are also sailing and Squamish Nation Paddling demonstrations, art exhibits and more.
