A 28-year-old Whistler man is facing several charges after he reportedly became aggressive with police during a traffic stop.
Just before 2:15 a.m. on Aug. 27, an officer on patrol near Highway 99 and Village Gate Boulevard observed a vehicle “swerving and almost rear-ending another vehicle,” police said.
After stopping the car, the Mountie noticed “signs of impairment” on the driver. The man then allegedly became “aggressive” with police during a breathalyzer test.
He was taken to the detachment before being released with a future court date.
Police on the lookout for teenage shoplifters
Police are asking the public for any information about a pair of teenage girls who allegedly shoplifted from two different village stores last week.
Mounties said they were tipped off on the afternoon of Aug. 22 that two females had entered the shops and stolen merchandize valued at approximately $475.
The first female is described as a Caucasian of slim build, 16 to 18 years old, 5-foot-4 in height (163 cm), with red hair in a ponytail, wearing a blue shirt and tight grey pants.
The second female is said to be Caucasian, slim build, also 16 to 18 years old, 5-foot-6 (168 cm), with dark hair in a ponytail, wearing grey shorts, a long grey T-shirt with print on the front, and long blue fingernails.
One of the teenagers was reportedly referred to as “Paige.”

‘Intoxicated’ man found in bushes
A 26-year-old man who police said was too intoxicated to care for himself was found in a patch of bushes near Highway 99 last week.
Just after 3:15 p.m. on Aug. 22, Whistler RCMP was notified of a male on the ground on the shoulder of Highway 99 and Lorimer Road. When police arrived, they found the man “intoxicated in the bushes approximately 20 feet from the (highway).”
He was held in custody until sober, police said.
Bike thieves strike again
After a rash of bike thefts marked the final weekend of Crankworx, the trend continued this week with seven bikes reported stolen throughout the resort.
On the morning of Aug. 23, police were notified of the theft of a bicycle and paddleboard from a home in the 1200 block of Mount Fee Road. The items, which were reportedly last seen at 10 p.m. the previous night, had been locked up with a thick chain in front of the residence.
The bike is described as a large 2105 black Norco Sight with an orange mud guard, while the paddleboard is white, 11-inch (28-cm) Ten Six brand with a dark grey foam pad.
Later that day another bike was reportedly taken from the 2100 block of Sarajevo Drive in Creekside.
It’s described as a blue men’s Giant mountain bike, with a Chromag black saddle, no chain guide and a Schwalbe Procor tire system.
Also on Aug. 23, a bike that had been locked to a rack at the rear of a vehicle was reportedly stolen from the 4500 block of Blackcomb Way.
This bike is described as a men’s Santa Cruz Bronson mountain bike, black in colour, with rock shock forks, 27-inch (69-cm) wheel size and all stock parts.
Two days later a 2016 Norco Range mountain bike was purportedly taken from the 4500 block of Chateau Boulevard. It is believed to have occurred sometime between 4:30 and 9:30 p.m.
The men’s bike is black and green with a large frame, 27-inch (69-cm) wheel size, 10-speed dual suspension and stock parts.
Then, on Aug. 27, two more bikes were allegedly stolen from a vehicle bike rack in the 2200 block of Gondola Way. The bikes are believed to have been stolen sometime between 10 p.m. the night before and 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.
The first bike was a green and black 2014 men’s Rocky Mountain Element model, 21 speed, with a 29-inch (74-cm) wheel size and a full suspension.
The other bike is a 2015 women’s Giant Liv Intrigue, dark and light blue in colour, with a 27-inch (69-cm) wheel size and a full suspension.
The final report of a bike theft came in on Aug, 28, and reportedly occurred in the area of Spearhead Drive and Blackcomb Way. The bike was taken from the rear of a pickup truck while it was parked sometime between 9 and 11:30 p.m., police said.
It’s described as an orange men’s 2011 Specialized Demo 8 Troy Lee Designs mountain bike, nine-speed, 26-inch (66-cm) wheel size and Fox 40 front suspension.
